    School Name: Silver High School

    Area of Science: Automotive Engineering

Project Title: Traffic Flow Of Silver City

Abstract
Interim
Final Report

With the drastic rise in traffic, there is an ever growing need to control the amount of traffic flow through various areas of Silver City. Debates have been raised over raising and lowering speed limits, adding more traffic lights, inserting stop signs, and building speed bumps. The purpose of this project is to create a traffic model that will help the condensed traffic problems in Silver City.

So far, team members have done research on how much traffic actually passes through Silver City. With these traffic counts, a C++ program has been written to model a single car traveling through town.

The program needs modification to allow for the many stops that a car has to make on its way through Silver City. Once this step of the program is completed, a function will be added to allow for multiple cars to be used, and determine how long it takes the cars to travel through the town.

Once this program has been completed and accuratley outputs traffic conditions in a set area, it can then be modified to allow for variable conditions. Such modifications could be: shorter or longer traffic lights, complete removal of a traffic light, raising or lowering speed limits, or an increased amount of traffic lanes.
