Challenge Team Abstract
Along with the basic need for privacy, the recent widespread use of the Internet has taken matters out of the consumers' hand and into the cryptographers'. It is their responsibility then to make sure credit card numbers, billing information, and other personal data are secure. But is it always secure? Processing power has expanded exponentially in the past few years and with the recent explosion of e-commerce, the security and integrity of our data is constantly being compromised by online predators. Current encryption algorithms are unable to guarantee complete security. The current processes now in use do not adequately provide the level of dependability that vulnerable data needs when trying to remain secure.
Our team objective will be to devise a more secure method of transferring information over a network utilizing a path specific methodology. The design of this methodology will incorporate layered multiple server encryptions that will progressively encrypt data as it moves along the network
Our primary goal is to create an encryption software package that will provide a higher level of security in data exchange. This will be a more robust solution than present encrypting software. The program will utilize the natural randomness inherent in the Internet by varying methods of encryption depending on the route that information is sent. We intend to update the current system for data security, and use cryptoanalysis to check our results, while also attempting to crack our own code.
Encryption's primary use is on the Internet, and our software will take advantage of the structure of this system. In this day and age there is a growing need for cryptography solutions and this where we think a path specific process of network security could help.
