Challenge Team Abstract

Team Number: 038 School Name: Farmington High Area of Science: Environmental Science Project Title: Nuclear Waste Disposal Methods

Our project will evaluate the various methods currently used for dealing with nuclear waste, and we will attempt to find the best method through comparing the cost effectiveness, possible hazards, and the efficiency. Some of the possible methods we will cover are the recycling of the waste through the use of a breeder reactor and the storage of the waste. We will use the C++ programming language to make models to simulate the various possibilities as well as their advantages and disadvantages. Upon completion of our project we hope to have chosen the best overall method for nuclear waste disposal.
