Challenge Team Abstract

Team Number:Team 071 School Name: Sandia Prep Area of Science: Planetary Science/Nuclear Physics Project Title: Cooling Venus

In this project, we will be simulating an attempt to remove the clouds from Venus using nuclear blasts. Once the clouds are removed, the planet's surface will cool, allowing it to be used by humans. Our project will simulate the detonation of the nuclear warheads of different magnitudes in the upper atmosphere of the planet, and calculate the effects on the cloud cover. We will then find the optimum warhead yield and number of bombs needed to effectively and effeciently remove the cloud cover.
